Round Table “Topical issues of the development of the Ukrainian woodworking industry”

A round table was held within the framework of the International exhibition “Woodworking 2019”. More than 100 persons participated in that round table. Among invited organization were as follow: Lviv Regional State Administration, Lviv Regional Forestry Administration, Ukrainian National Forestry University, Association “Cluster “Woodworking industry”. The NGO “Association of Woodworkers and Loggers of the Lviv region” initiated this event. All above mentioned organizations are in the list of stakeholders in reference to the bioconomy strategy creation in Lviv region.

We can consider this event as preparatory meeting for Lviv visioning workshop that will be held on 21 of June since the main aim of the round table was to discuss the current situation in the forest sector of Ukraine, identify bottlenecks and suggest future decisions for improving the situation.

Head of the Furniture and Wooden Articles Technology Department of the Ukrainian National Forestry University, professor, Doctor of Science, Mr. Orest Kiyko, presented the problems and perspectives of the Ukrainian forest sector. Therefore, he analysed its development for the period from 2004 to 2018. He identified the forest sector as one of the key parts of Ukrainian bioeconomy and its contribution to the national and regional sustainable development.
