Partners from POWER4BIO\, stakeholders from the region and other European regions are invited to participate in the cross-visit. \nThis event will provide an opportunity to regional stakeholders for the exchange of knowledge and for dialogue\, and it will present bioeconomy status and development in Slovakia and in the Nitra region. \nThe event is organised by the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra in cooperation with the Bioeconomy Cluster\, and representatives of regional government\, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development of the Slovak Republic\, national representatives of the BIOEAST initiative and BIOEASTsUP project. \nDuring the first day (September 23)\, research experts and policy makers will present the position of bioeconomy in updated research and innovation strategy at national and regional level\, as well as related priority areas and challenges. Dies führt zur Freisetzung einer großen Menge an Treibhausgasen\, die ganz maßgeblich zum Klimawandel beitragen. \nDie Bioökonomie hingegen setzt auf nachwachsende Rohstoffe\, u.a. durch die Verwertung pflanzlicher Biomasse und steht somit für die Umstellung auf eine pflanzenbasierte Wirtschaft. Diese Form der nachhaltigen Produktion und Nutzung von Ressourcen soll vor allem zu einer Reduzierung der Treibhausgase (bei einigen der Prozesse wird der Atmosphäre sogar CO2 entzogen!) und damit langfristig zu einer Abmilderung des Klimawandels beitragen. \nIn seinem Vortrag erläutert Professor Markus Pauly die Grundlagen der Bioökonomie und diskutiert mit dem Publikum über die Potentiale der Bioökonomie für mehr Nachhaltigkeit. E-commerce appears promising in strengthening food value chains\, and digital tools may also support on-farm production during the crisis\, e.g.\, by providing online advice and facilitating access to inputs and machinery services. Governments and donors are promoting policies to stimulate the growth of digital agriculture in an effort to “build agriculture back better” and foster climate-smart production as part of a sustainable bioeconomy. Could the COVID-19 pandemic thus accelerate a digital revolution in agriculture and\, more broadly\, the bioeconomy?
